Ellen Black | An Uphill Battle

Hi all! For today’s readings, I was asked to begin with a spread on Biden and Harris. I generally start off with readings about Trump & Co., but a friend and follower of my blog specifically wanted me to follow up on The Fool card, which popped up in Biden/Harris’ reading from earlier in the week. I mentioned in my last blog that The Fool represents new beginnings. My friend wanted to me to follow the energy of this card into my first reading this time, asking the Universe to see if Biden and Harris represent a political beginning in the upcoming new year.

I wish I could definitively say that yes, Biden and Harris will win and usher in a new administration. But, as always, the cards signal an uphill battle for the pair. A win for them is not impossible – just difficult given the machinations of a corrupt Republican party, coupled with a lot of help from Russia and voters who make up the Trump Cult.

I also did a reading about Trump and Pence, but instead of elaborating on that reading here (you can listen to the audio), I’d like to use this space to talk about Reverend Dr. William J. Barber II. If you aren’t familiar with him, he’s most commonly known in the past few years for reviving the Poor People’s Campaign. He’s an activist and organizer whose religious beliefs are strongly rooted in making the world a socially just place for all of us. I have great admiration for Dr. Barber and, even though I am not a Christian, I find comfort in his words and wisdom. Especially in these trying times, it’s so important to find voices of light amidst all the darkness. Dr. Barber is one of these voices.
